About Weasel Squeeze Records

Who are we?

Set up a few years back, i forget the date i was too drunk, Weasel Squeeze Records was born in my head while spending far too my time on the now defunct mp3.com (shame, was really quite good). I was listening to all these great little bands from overseas and moaning about not being able to get thier CDs over here. I ordered some once from the US and customs stung me for stupid amounts of import duties... never again i said.

So i thought of making this compilation effort. Of overseas punk bands to put out over here. I worked hard on the CD, but chucked the idea in favour of putting out a superb album, Endless Summer by dutch pop punk legends the Travoltas. The Cd was ace, and I blew all my savings on putting it out, only problem was, they pulled the tour they were going to do over here so the CD never got the recognition it deservered... we got 4 K's in Kerrang! tho if thats any good!

Since then, its had highs and lows, people have helped out, and dissapeared again, and until very recently its been on the shelf while I attempted to sort my post university life out.... but now its back! Oh yes.

Whats the point

Because its good fun.

What we like

Good music (obviously), watching bands, getting demos that are good (and i have had some totally amazing demo's), helping other labels, the usual stuff.

What we dislike

Bandwagon bands, arsey bands, swear words, Mp3s by email, the NME, bouncers at gigs, bands who get my MSN address.

The whole purpose of Weasel Squeeze is to put out some ace music but please please read this before sending stuff to us.

1) If you want to send a demo thats great, please email for our address. But dont bother sending if you dont have some tour dates to support it as we will NEVER work with a band that isnt touring (we wanna see you!)

2) Please dont email asking to be "signed". We dont "sign" bands, we work with them. There is a big difference and if you dont understand that difference, then we're not the label to be helping you out. Sorry.

To satisfy the people who are always asking... heres a little story for you to tell you grandkids. The day Weasel Squeeze Records got its name...

... Once upon a time, in a pub in Derby, 3 freinds were out having a beer or 7, trying to think of a name for Garys 1017th project that probably wont last, a little record label. After many a beer, and some useless suggestions (all noted on a bit of paper which im GUTTED i lost) we had come up with nothing. Not a sausage.

Just upon leaving, the rather useless DJ, still works there i believe, tried to scratch the record and failed miserably. It made this god-awful sound, to which someone said it sounded like a weasel being squeezed.
